Mikawawan Gas Terminal (MGT) is achieving greater efficiency and large cost reductions with regards to distribution, in particular filling and delivery, through the adoption of full automatic 20-head filling machine, the largest number in Japan, as well as the new concept of low-floor trailers.
While reducing existing labor, facility and transportation costs of stations, MGT is also focusing on heavily reducing transportation costs through the restructuring of transportation methods to promote centralized stations and proactive development of a cooperative distribution system. In addition, MGT is able to provide a highly stable and inexpensive LPG supply.

MGT has adopted three major measures to further streamline operations, achieve better power savings and provide an even more stable LPG supply.

We built the largest, most advanced LPG filling station in Japan. It was built exclusively for depot center trailers and had two fully automatic 20-head filling machines , with highly efficient LP gas cylinder ?flow through a conveyor system controlled in conjunction with the fillers. This system dramatically reduced the labor requirements of the filling task, and by expanding the size of the operation, we achieved great advantages of scale.

These trailers were developed in conjunction with a vehicle manufacturer, and are designed to increase the allowable maximum on-road weight using a triple axle system.

Depot centers

Depot centers are storehouses for distributing LPG to supply areas.

At MGT, depot centers are used as relay points for distributing bottled LPG to supply areas.
Large size low-floor trailers, which hold more LPG than tank Lorries and are cheaper to run, can be used to transport LPG from depot centers to storage points.

By replacing the head on large size trailers designed for transporting LP gas cylinders, it is possible to omit the first step in the distribution process, resulting in reduced administration personnel at depot centers, improved transport capacity and a greater shipping area. Further, aligning the heights of the trailer, platform and loading bed increases efficiency throughout every step of this process.

By coupling its filling system, shipment data managed at depot centers and LP gas cylinder transport data together with its own unique barcode system, MGT is able to consolidate information about LP gas cylinders, simplify checking procedures and gather management data.
